Slack Integration

Kapstan offers an effortless way to integrate with Slack, a widely-used communication platform. By setting up a connection through a Slack App, Kapstan can send notifications and updates related to deployments, tasks, and other activities directly to your Slack channels. To achieve this integration, users need to create a Slack App and configure the Kapstan connection using the provided credentials.

Creating a Slack App

  1. Log in to your Slack account and access the Slack API page.
  2. Click on Create New App.
  3. Provide a name for the app and select your Slack workspace.
  4. On App page, click on Permissions. Select chat:write, files:write, im:write, mpim:write, users:read permissions for the App.
  5. Now, Under OAuth & Permissions, generate the OAuth Access Token.
  6. Make sure to copy the token, as it will be needed to configure the connection in Kapstan.

Steps to Create a Slack Connection in Kapstan

  1. Navigate to connections page.
  2. Click "Create connection" button on the top right and then click on "Connect communication platform".
  3. Complete the creation process by providing the required values in the form.
  • Name: Enter an identifiable name for your connection.
  • Integration Type: Choose "Slack" from the dropdown menu.
  • OAuth Token: Paste the token you generated from the Slack App.
  1. Click "Confirm" to finalize the connection setup.

Verify Connection

Once you established the connection with Kapstan, you will be directed to the Connections page. You can check the status of the connection by checking the status column.
