Kapstan's cost management feature serves as a pivotal tool for monitoring and controlling expenditures within your cloud environment. This functionality provides a comprehensive observability framework at two distinct levels: Cloud and Application Cost (coming soon). Under the category of Cloud Cost, users gain insight into the cost associated with resources provisioned with Kapstan and the Application Cost feature allows users to visualize and optimize the cost incurred by individual applications deployed through the Kapstan platform on K8s.

For AWS, it is imperative that the account used to establish the AWS connection is either the payer's account or a stand-alone account. This is essential as Kapstan depends on AWS tags for cloud cost tracking. To facilitate accurate cost tracking based on custom tags, specific permissions(AWS doc), as outlined in the AWS documentation, must be granted.
